Dear staff,
Over the past weeks, as COVID-19 has rapidly reshaped our community and the world around us, I’ve been amazed and inspired by the tenacity, resolve and generosity of the University of Mississippi staff. On behalf of the university’s senior leadership team, I want to thank each and every one of you for your tremendous work, your willingness to go above and beyond in service to our university and your energy and positivity that continue to buoy the entire university family during this unsettling time.
In addition to extending my appreciation, I want you to know that I’m acutely aware of the significant challenges many of you are experiencing at this moment – ranging from health concerns for yourselves and your loved ones, to immediate changes in caretaking responsibilities, to the adjustments associated with working remotely and taking our operations to mission-critical status in just a matter of days.
During this time, I encourage you to be creative in seeking ways to reduce stress, maintain healthy habits and practice social distancing. And, be sure to check on each other. Now, more than ever, it’s important that we remain connected to each other and maintain the standards of care and nurture that makes this university such a special place.
In closing, I offer my sincerest gratitude for your commitment to the university, our faculty, our students and all those we serve. While we will never forget this unprecedented challenge, let’s choose to remember the ways we stayed engaged with the university in spite of the difficulties, helped one another and managed rapidly evolving situations successfully.
This university has weathered many challenges over the last 172 years. And when we look back at the historical moment that is unfolding around us, your significant and selfless efforts will be remembered for how we endured and ultimately flourished. We will persist through this and be stronger for it.
Sincerely,
Glenn F. Boyce
